Winter Walk June 2010 Geelong

Winter Walk June 2010 - Geelong

Geelong is the second largest city in the state of Victoria Australia
It is a port city located on Corio Bay and the Barwon River, 75 kilometres from Melbourne.
With an urban population of 160,991 people, the urban area runs from the plains of Lara in the north to the rolling hills of Waurn Ponds to the south, with the bay to the east and hills to the west. The city is the home to car manufacturer Ford Australia and the Geelong Football Club, The Cats Geelong was named in 1837 by Governor Richard Burke and it was was proclaimed a city in 1910, with industrial growth.

The Barwon River rises in the Otway Ranges of Victoria.

The river is crossed by a number of bridges in Geelong.

This is Princes Bridge - Balyang Sanctuary
Winter Walk - for me it's an annual extravaganza reality that starts with the morning....

When you think about winter - we all think of spectacular white coat yet only few of us able to imagine that winter is so evergreen.

There are no abandoned trees, the birds are around with their seet songs, everything is so alive and I'm alive with it ...

At the end of this walk I'm asking myself : is there one less or one more walk in my life ... Yeahhh one more :-)

Visit to Moreton Island

Dearest Stefan
It was an absolute pleasure to visit this place with you, knowing that Aborigines tribe of Ngugi have lived on Moreton Island for 20,000 years and Moreton Island was the centre for major coastal defense bases during World War I and II and we get to be here too!!!!

This island is one of the largest sand islands in the world situated 40km's from Brisbane and it's 38km long, and the best way to get here is by

The first lighthouse made from local sandstone which is still going today Cape Moreton lighthouse is really something special :-)

Bulwer, Cowan and Kooringal are three small townships on the Island that consists entirely of sand apart from a small area of sandstones and rhyolite, and Tangalooma is a large tourist resort that operated a whaling station processing about 600 whales a year between 1952 and 1962, when the whaling station closed the buildings were redveloped into what now is Tangalooma Resort.

Mt Tempest which is considered the highest coastal sand dune in the world at 285m.

Most of Moreton island has been declared at National Park to protect the natural areas, wildlife and historical sites. There is a chance to spot the humpback whales as they migrate north in June-July and return with their calves in September-November, and that makes everyones holiday an unforgettable experience, sadly we did not see them...but we had a fantastic time..

Interesting to know that European settlement began in 1848 with a pilot station at Bulwer. Land sales started in 1863, to provide food for shipwrecked sailors goats and pigs were introduced in 1865, in 1890 a telegraph line was built down the island to link Bulwer with Amity Point on North Stadbroke Island.

Hmmm the waters surrounding Moreton Island are so clean, crystal clear and snorkelling or diving around is an opportunity not to be missed, but swimmers like myself can enjoy a dip from any of the beaches with water temperature usually remaining above 17C even in mid winter..

The best thing about Moreton Island is freedom to stop and make your stay wherever you desire, there is a challenge and fun of off-road driving along the bush, sand tracks and open beaches..

Visit to Montalto Vineyard Dec 2009

Visit to Montalto Vineyard and Olive Grove December 2009

The Mornington Peninsula has the lot:

Beautiful bay beaches, orchard covered hills, old fashioned towns with relaxed village atmospheres, cliff top mansions and great vine resturants... Red Hill region!!!

Location of Montalto Vineyard Resturant hmmm what about if i say it's overlooking 1500plus olive trees and 11ha vineyards, no wonder it has awardwinning wines & great olive oil... The resturant it self is beautify presented with French-influenced menu -organic herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden !!!!

It's also has an appealing cellar and nice cafe that sells small meals that can be enjoyed individually or ordered en masse to share !!!! do not forget to try: Red Hill goats cheese in a twice baked souffle... it's a must !!!

At Montalto resturant they are likely to pour the wine you choose for lunch or they can help you with choice... as for the view well it is one of the best on the peninsula as for food it's great ...
On a way home you can pick seasonal cherries & plums, strawberries&raspberries at the farms, get balsamic-style vinegar, local oils and james for home, for a sweet tooth go to Mornington Peninsula Chocolates ( they are hand made daily)

For me this is a true showopice winery...

Interesting :
The local wine industry only began in the 1970's and today the region has more than 220 vineyards over 920ha with more than 55 cellar door open to the public...
I'm having trouble with uploading photos but will get them once the system is okay ;-)

Surfers Paradise is where you'll find the perfect fusion of city and beach lifestyles set amidst a spectacular skyline and brilliant stretch of coast. Once you arrive, you'll soon feel that you've literally arrived in paradise.

This is the car I got for a day ... not bad at all....little new Kia
At the beach... just wonderful nice sunny day ....well have say tat Gold Coast has excellent sandy beaches.. Surfers Paradise ....Vibrant and eclectic, Surfers Paradise provides non-stop action. With an abundance of theme parks and family attractions all in easy access, ( I did not have time for that ) but seriously you're never short of finding things to do. The trouble instead may be finding enough time to do everything........

Stefan & me !!!!! The Best Moments .......

big big big hugssssss....
.....Stefan and I & Soccer Time .....
Many different cultures have played a sport similar to the modern game of soccer but no one can really say with any certainty when or where soccer began but it is known that the earlier variations of what later became soccer were played almost 3000 years ago.
Who invented the new type of soccer shoes? Somebody but NOT ME ...ADIDAS?????
...............GO LIVERPOOL..................

Great Picture ... Stef !!!!!
Nike, Inc. has a rich history dating back to at least 1957 when Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight met. It wasn't until the early 60s that Phil started Blue Ribbon Sports which later became Nike.
I heard somewhere but I'm not sure that ...The SWOOSH logo is a graphic design created by Carolyn Davidson in 1971. It represents the wing of the Greek Goddess NIKE." VICTORY
After stumbling badly against archrival Reebok in the 1980s,
Nike rose about as high and fast in the ‘90s as any company
can. It took on a new religion of brand consciousness and
broke advertising sound barriers with its indelible Swoosh,
“Just Do It” slogan and deified sports figures.

hmmmm going back to Melbourne !!!! checking the flights schedule .... Day is short ............
You do not want to know ...what has happened here...shhhshsh

Arriving to Melbourne .............grrr!!!!!!!
Love you Stefan !!!!!
